Can I Get a Flat Stomach After a Hysterectomy?

If you wish to lose belly fat and get a flat abdominal area, you need to lose fat from your whole body. Abdominal exercises are good for the muscles of that area. However, they cannot get rid of your stored fat. Furthermore, if you have undergone a hysterectomy, you have a high chance of gaining more weight.

So firstly, you already have stored fat in your body and you have a small bulging belly. Secondly, you went for a hysterectomy, so the chances of weight gain will be high. So if you are planning to do only abdominal exercises, they can never bring you long-term benefits. Therefore, if you are done with the hysterectomy and now you are in the safe zone, you should look for body exercises. It is better to do full-body workouts instead of only abdominal ones.

Some of the causes of increasing belly after a hysterectomy are;

1.Internal swelling

You are likely to have swelling after the surgery. But because not everyone is aware of this, they might think that their belly is increasing in size while it is only swelling. So if you have recently gone through surgery, do not worry and do not think too much. Pelvic swelling can even take months to resolve and the same is the case with internal lower abdominal swelling.

2. Inactivation of deep abdominal muscles

Another cause of your bulging belly is the inactivation of your muscles. You have undergone incisions so it is highly likely that your muscles are not working properly. They might stop working completely. As a result of this, the belly looks larger in size.

The best way to go for a flat belly is:

1. Energy deficit

You need to create an energy deficit for your body. But this does not mean that you have to take less food. Although diet is important, a healthy diet is a necessity. Therefore, you need to look for ways to consume your energy. No need to reduce your meals if you are already eating less.

Instead, you can go for a walk, play with children, or go to amusement parks or museums or art exhibitions. All these places let you walk. So you are walking without even noticing that you are doing so. Thus, it will take your energy and you will have a way to consume what you eat. Furthermore, all such things are interesting. So do whatever you like but do not just sit at home.
